LJUNG RELISHES A NEW START

Leicester’s Swedish International and World Cup gold medallist has been away from the Elite League for two years and is looking forward to a new challenge. He last rode in the UK during 2011 for the Lakeside Hammers and before that he had spells at Eastbourne, Reading and Swindon.

“I have been thinking about returning for some time now and liked the thought of being at the beginning of what is an exciting adventure for Leicester. It is a fairly new track and a chance to have a proper home track for once which not everyone has been to yet. Your home form is one of the most important things and to win your matches means that you keep up towards the top of the league table. Another benefit is that at Leicester the track is available for practice if we need to get things sorted with equipment” stated Peter.

At thirty-one Ljung is the elder statesman of the team and brings with him experience of riding in different countries throughout his career and during his two year sabbatical, the Lions new signing has been on the shopping list of several clubs who were keen on bringing him back into British Speedway.

“My aim is to do what is expected of me and if we can all help our young junior riders in the team as their contribution will be just as vital as the more senior members. For every point they score it is a point less than we have to try and score so we need to pass on advice when it is needed” added Ljung.
